The Best Lipsticks For Autumn Winter 2017

Lipstick can make or break your look, so it’s important to know what you want to achieve before you put it on, and with premium lipsticks costing so much, it’s good to get some kind of idea what to expect before shelling out for one. In this blog, I’m going to have a look at some of the latest trends and give you an overview of how they feel when they’re on.

Ciaté London Glitter Flip Lipstick

This liquid lipstick has a metallic matte hue that magically transforms into a dazzling, glittery look when you press your lips together. The lipstick is easily applied and it goes on smoothly, though some people I have spoken to have said it can have a slightly drying effect on them. When it dries it almost feels like you’re wearing no lipstick at all. It’s long lasting and the harder you press your lips together the more glittery the effect is. It’s not quite as bright a glitter as a full glitter lipstick, but its sparkle is available on demand. This is the perfect makeup for the festive season. I recommend the Iconic colour that looks like a shimmering galaxy.

Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Treatment

Halfway between a lip balm and a lipstick, this is Kiehl’s first foray into the world of colour cosmetics and is available in four colours. Don’t expect this to have the deep colour of a lipstick or a lip stain. It goes on very smoothly, and although the colour isn’t hugely rich it is noticeable, but this isn’t designed for that. It feels super rich and buttery and is protecting and moisturising the whole time you’re wearing it. Perfect for bringing out subtle colour. As lip balms go it is expensive, but it’s great quality.

Givenchy Le Rouge Sculpt

This lipstick uses two-toned colour so that you can apply contour and pigment in one step. The core shade highlights the centre of your lips while the darker tone contours the edges of your lips with a deeper colour. I tried the red and magic black version and when I first put it on I was quite sceptical because the dark line looked a bit severe, but after a few seconds the black transformed into a dark red, whilst the lighter colour in the centre stayed the same, giving the illusion of fuller lips. It works! Available in five colours, these lipsticks are expensive, but they have an effect of lip liner and lipstick in one.
